How to Help

A portion of the proceeds from the sales of this book will help pay for two-month refugee orientation sessions at Jubilee Partners, a Christian community in Comer, Ga.

Another portion of the proceeds will help Sudanese refugees pay costs related to education and work, as well as meeting emergency expenses.

Sudanese refugees who were originally resettled in Georgia may read eligibility guidelines and apply for assistance from the IRC Sudanese Assistance Fund here

As of May 5, 2006, the IRC Sudanese Assistance Fund has raised $19,152.92 and awarded $12,666.81 in grants to 28 Sudanese.

Twenty people have received $9,236.81 (an average of $461.84 a person) for help paying for tuition, textbooks or other costs related to education. This represents 72.9 percent of all grants made.

Eight people have received $3,430 in emergency financial assistance, mainly for help paying rent while facing possible eviction. This represents 27.1 percent of all grants made.

The next deadline is 5 p.m. on Friday May 26, 2006 to apply for assistance.
